Drain plug washer?

Getting ready to do the first oil change on our '03 Max, and the owner's manual says to 'install new drain plug washer' before screwing the drain plug back in. However, at a glance there doesn't appear to be a washer on the drain plug. Can someone who has done an oil change on an '02-'03 verify this? And if there is a washer, is it just a plain flat one I can get at any auto parts store or is it the kind that crushes (that I'll have to get from Nissan)?

Also, if anyone knows the part number for Purolator filters for this engine it would be nice to have that info too.

Thanks,

Phil

i dont have the part number for purolator but there should be a drain plug washer on there. its a copper piece that crushes around the drain plug. my dealership give me 6 of them free when i buy 6 filters at the same time. i replace mine every 3rd oil change.

Looks like bill99gxe wins the bet! And it took less than 24 hours!

There is at least 2 threads about this in the last couple days. Scroll back a few pages and you'll find everything you need.

Thanks for the info. Sorry for not searching adequately before, but the search function wasn't working last night and I was too dense to notice the other recent threads on the subject.

Regards,

Phil

No problem, most of us have done it. I just thought it was funny because bill99gxe said yesterday that the same thread would be back in less than 24 hours.
