Just got lowered!

Saturday, me and friend installed my Maxspeeds. It only took us about 2 and a half, maybe 3 hours to do it. (using air tools and big *** service jack) The front wasnt bad at all to install...but the back was another story...all those damn black metal covers and everything had to go or there was NO WAY to get the rear shock out. Anyway its awesome...i love the drop! I have about a 2 finger gap in the front and about a 1 finger gap in the back with my stock 16s and 215/55/16 tires. Im riding on stock shocks/struts tho, still trying to decide which shocks/struts i wanna get (Tokico or AGX???) The ride is great..not nearly as bumpy as i thought it would be, overall the car drives like a different car all together. It stays flat in the corners, doesnt feel like im driving a boat anymore. i need to get an RSB pretty soon, ive been meaning to do that for a looong time. Cattman Y-pipe comes first tho, im ordering that next week . I dont have any pics posted yet...but ill let you all know when i do. Ill probably wait until my rear clears come in to take some new pics.

Well enjoy it, but as for no way of getting the rear struts out. You could have just used a deep swivel 14mm socket with an extention on to remove the two nuts holding the rear mounts in. After that you got just one bolt to pop out and the struts out. You dont have to remove any metal covers, or take the back seat apart (been there, done that ) Its faster this way, try that next time.

i didnt even think of that...lol...where were you saturday with that advice!!? Yeah i know what ya mean tho...we took the back seat apart and everything. I think it actually took longer taking all that apart and putting it back together than it actually took to change the rear springs.

Actually your right, it does take longer to remove the back seat then it does to do the struts I never say a thread titled "installing springs..any tips?" Well atleast you know the faster way now, but look on the bright side. You also know how to take apart the back seat apart now! If you need any tips to make things go faster, post it up be4 you do it. Im just surprized your drop is so low with the maxspeeds, actually do this. Get a measuring tape and measure the lenght from the middle (right above the tire) of your front fender to the ground and same with the rear and post back what #'s you got. Stock I belive were 27.75" for the front and 27.25" for the rears.

ill measure 2morrow when im taking pics...the "finger method" cant always be trusted..lol..i have kinda big hands anywayz..im happy with the drop tho thats for sure! i parked beside a stock 02/03 SE and its a bigger difference than i thought. the top of my side view mirror was almost lined up with the bottom of his/her side view mirror. Nice drop overall..i LOVE the way the teins look tho..i just came across an AWESOME deal on my maxspeeds and i couldnt pass it up. Maybe ill go lower with the Teins once i get some other stuff done first...who knows....

and another quick thing..i meant to tell you this before..your max looks AWESOME, what all have you done to it?? maybe mine will look that good one of these days. keep it up thats one hot car you have there!

Hitman:

Did YOU use impact wrenches on your install???

Wondering is you can get away with regular hand tools.

Thanx,
GR

Ohh yeah, I work at a shop so I have any and every tool available to my disposal. You can get away with using hand tools though. I personally allways use a spring compressor however because ive seen a few close calls, id rahter be safe then sorry. If you want a list of "hand" tools you'll need ill post em up later after work.

Thank you for the compliments. and im waiting for the #'s too.
I got the stillen bodykit on (made a huge diff) Teins/Toks. Those plus the magnaflow muffler are whats visible. I got basically ever simple bolt on except the UDP. Hell I got the timing advanced too!

What is the measurement from the middle of the fender above the tire to the floor on the rear?

I'm thinking my Maxspeeds are sitting way high.

Im also kinda curious...what are the numbers on the Teins??? im actually thinkin of going Tein pretty soon...i wanted a little more drop, but like i said..i came across an awesome deal on my maxspeeds and i couldnt pass it up, overall im pleased with the maxspeeds tho. THat'd be cool! Thanks man.....I'm planning on either buying or renting an impact wrench + the compressor, so I should be covered.

just want to know what little bits and pieces, such as the entender & elbow will make removing the Rear Shocks easier!!
