My brother, who is a mechanic, told me that it takes about 3K miles to break-in a new car, is this true? I have never owned a new car before and haven't got a clue. Does this mean when I get 3K+, it will feel even better?

Nissan says..

that the break-in period is at the 1000 mile mark. But I'm sure that it's longer than that. And bedsides, I'm sure you'll reach the 3000 mark in no time. If you want to follow the Nissan suggestions, then it's in the owners manual.

In the manual I think it syas that after a thousand miles you'll be ok. But you have to gradually break it in after that meaning that once you hit a thousand you can't just go crazy.

NavySE is right...

It explains it in the manual as well as what most people say. One stupid dealer had told me on one of my first new cars to take it easy for the first 500 miles. Most manuals say 1000 miles...not to stay at ANY driving condition steadily for too long (ie long periods of highway speeds, long periods of stop and go, long periods of high throttle, etc). Then once you've hit 1000 miles you have to gradually work it up, naturally in smaller intervals...slowly increasing your speeds and how hard you hit the throttle in order to work it open to where you want it to be
