synthetic oil

synthetic oil

i am sure that this has been discussed i am doing my first oil change since new ownership of my 97 max want to know if i should use mobil one sysnthetic or not. A forum link would help or some advice as to what everyone uses thanks. And what number oil should i use for this time of year. thanks everyone!

I use Mobil 1, 5-30. I also pay a bit extra for a decent oil filter. I used to use reg. dino-oil. When I switched to synthetic, I noticed the engine temp. drop a tad bit.

I guess it all comes down to a matter of preference. Use petro based oil and change it twice as often. After a years worth of oil changes, the cost equals out.

I also sent oil samples to a lab my job sends oil samples for analysis. The synthetic does not break down. The petroleum based does break down after several miles.
