Has anyone tinted their sunroof and had it busted by itself? I went to get mine done today and the shop told me they dont tint roofs because they have a tendancy to burst by themself,due to the type of glass used.He however was willing to do it if i would sign a peice of paper saying the shop wasn't liable if it busted,needless to say my roof is still stock.

 

glass is glass dude.....the shop dunno their a$$ from their elbow...I hope you declined the whole job

 

20%, 2+ years of Houston sun and heat...not one problem with the glass.

it's tempered... it won't break any faster or slower than a side window

 

I heard the same thing from my dealer. Talked to the tint shop, they called the (tint) factory, factory said shouldn't be a problem. 18% tint, no problems so far.

I went with %5 on mine and its been fine. No problems at all.

 

I was told the same thing at an Altamere shop in Dallas. I think it is an urban legend. The thinking seems to be that the heat trapped between the the glass and the sliding cover somehow causes the glass to break.

 

Like most things, probably dates back to the first generations of moonroof glass and tints. Happened a few times then, and all of a sudden, that is just the way it is.

 

extra $15 for the sunroof tint....i got mine 1 yr ago....15%....it's been really good...but....there isn't a big difference to me either...

 

35% for 2 years in GA weather..(it's very humid here) no prob..execpt it's a pain to clean..

 

Actually, it has been known to happen in the Texas heat. Basically the Tint makes it where the heat is retained in the glass. The place that did mine said that I should be fine with 20% tint and that they would not do metallic tint for that reason.

 

Quantum metallic 14% on sunroof. Hasn't gave me a problem yet but pleasure able to open the shade on sunny day . *KNOCK ON WOOD*...

 

5% on mine for over a year in the Tennessee sun. Also, I rarely close my sunshade either. HUGE difference. You won't be sorry you did.
