205 65 15 Which Tire

I have 15 inch Konig Verdict wheels. Right now I have Michelins (which just spin when I open the throttle up). I'm looking for a better tire. I've heard good things about the Falken Azenis and the Falken Ziex. I need new tires and don't have the flow to get new rims. Anybody have any other recommendations or comments on these tires?

Bridgestone Potenza RE950
-or-
Dunlop Sport A2

Those are your best options in that size.

Both designs are org tested and approved. Just an FYI- If you find a cheap price on tirerack or somewhere like that but want to buy it locally, Sears or NTB will match your tirerack quote.

If you have 15 X 6.5 or larger - why not try a 215/60/15 instead. Might give you a tad bit better grip than the 205/65/15's.

Has anyone tried this. Do you think that it would have that hour glass looking shape if I did? Are there any negatives to doing this?

I had that size on my OEM GLE rims when I bought the max- if you have aftermarket you will certainly be fine.

215/60/15 is the stock size of the 96 SE's which have the 15 X 6.5 wheels. The GXE/GLE's have te 205/65/15's on 15 X 6 wheels.

I just put on 215/65R15 Dunlop SP Sport A2's about 6,000 miles ago. All I can say is GREAT TIRES!!! Still on stock steelies with hubcaps () but the car handles like a dream, holds the ground like superglue.

No it's not. The stock tires on '95-'96 SE SAWBLADES are 205/60/15...

I had (on a 95 GXE) 205/65r15s in the RE950. I found they were great, very quite compared to my newer 215/55-16s. The traction was very good, I have no complaints with the tires... outside of snow handling!!! But in the rain, they are great! I felt comfortable at 180km/h in heavy rain.

I just put used 98SE 5 spoke, 215/55-16s on. I did it at a good price. Maybe you can pick up second hand rims and tires for the price of 4 new tires... definately worth a shot.

good luck!

I'm using some 3rd gen SE rims and 215 wide tires...no problems. Oh yeah, they're dunlop d60/a2. Love them!

However, they're not exactly the bomb in autox.

I put a set of Falken Ziex(512's) on my Maxima. They have good grip in both dry and wet. I went with the 215/60/15's and they do good. I would not want to go any smaller because they seem to me a little narrower tread than other tires that size(Firestones). I wish I would have even gone the next size, maybe a 225/55-60?
Stear clear of the ziex 502's. Had them before my firestones(Sucked) and they were not good in the wet at all. ****er is that I was gonna take them back after the 30 day test drive and the night before some ***** slashed all 4 of them
