Help With Tinting!!!
Firstly - thanks for reading this.
I live in Massachusetts and the legal limit for window tint is 35% in the front, and anything else for the back and the rear windsheild. I am thinking of doing the 35% up front and a pretty dark tint in back and on the rear windsheild. I just dont want the mismatched windows to look stupid. Anyone have this done on their car with pics? Or anyone have an idea what I should/could do percentage wise on the back? Thanks Again!

i personally think that it will look funky...what's your car color??? i'd go with 35 all around...i have a tan or gold max whatever it's called and i did my tints in bronze and am very happy with them...i can also get you good foil if you need it
Go with 15% on the rear windows and rear windshield anything lower than that will make it really hard for you to see at night when backing up depending on how many street lights you have around where you live. IM me at dablazinmo on AIM if you need more details...
Well I have the legal limit on the front windows...I'm not sure what the limit is here in Texas......but I really want "limo" tint on my back windows and winshield...I don't want anyone to know whats goign on....thats just me thought
People say a mix of tints on windows looks bad. So then why is that some people have NO TINTS on the FRONT and whatever percentage of tint on their rear windows. 35% on the front, with 20% all the way around won't look bad at all... plus visibility won't be affected much.
in NJ no tint is allowed in front and all is allowed for back and rear windshield and everyone still does full all around cos it would look stupid if you don't tint the front...
When I tint my car I'm doing 35% all around and not even worry about it heh... just keep the front windows down when going for inspections

i live in mass. i am having my windows tinted very soon. as i understand it tints go in this order. 35,20,5 + whatever stock you have. i am planning on doing 35 on my fronts and 20 all around the back...i might even do the back window darker but i'm worried about backing up. i'm not worried at all about how it will look. completly confident. i almost want to do 5 all around the back but i think the cops would pull me over for it just to see what is going on inside. do it as dark as you want buddy...
If you have to do 35% and want to stay legal, go 35 all the way around... I have 13% and think that visibility is still excellent during the night, but i don't think you'd want to go that low, i just did because over here in Ottawa there's tons of people with 5% tints and have not gotten pulled over for that yet... Looks wicked, i'd never go anything higher than 20%, but if you gotta stay legal, you gotta stay legal...

It really looks weird if you have the front and rear windows at a different percentage. Do yourself a favor and just get 35% on the sides and 15% on the rear. It looks good IMO. There really isnt any point in having dark tints because it attracts a ton of attention from the police. (I'm just assuming you are trying to hide something from them) If you have nothing to hide, then by all means, go right ahead. What I'm saying is, if they can't see you doing something illegal through the windows, they'll sure as hell pull you over and check.

NEway, I have 20% all around and love it. NO tickets or problems in over a year. I do very often have the 2 front windows down during the summer just to be sure. I say get the 20%, it's a good dark w/o getting your ***** busted, and it's far from light...Looks pretty sick IMO...

That $hit works?!?! Are they that dumb? Wow I gotta go to your inspection station. I am 2 months overdue bc I can't find a place to hook up an inspection.

I haven't tried it yet myself but I think I've seen people with tinted windows pass that way.. plus, some of the jersey inspectors aren't all that bright, only some though.

I'm about to get tint in Texas so I'm up to date on this one. We can have 35% in the front, as dark as you want in the rear so long as you have mirrors on both sides of your car, and to the AS1 mark or 5" down the windshield, which ever is less, also as dark as you want.

Whats an AS1 mark? You mean the tint on the windshield (that's usually embedded in the glass?)

"What are the specifications for aftermarket window tinting?
For most vehicles, aftermarket tinting that registers at least 35% on a tint meter on side windows immediately adjacent to the driver and front passenger seats, and side windows immediately to the rear of the operator and passenger, is acceptable. The rear window may be tinted to the 35% level, but the vehicle must be equipped with two outside rear view mirrors. The windshield may only be tinted down to the AS-1 line, which is usually located in the uppermost (6) inches of the windshield.
I've seen new Sport Utility Vehicles with really dark tint on the side and back windows. Why can they do it?
Those and other vehicles have factory-installed glass which carries Federal/D.O.T. approval. The Massachusetts tint law is directed toward aftermarket installation of tinting materials."

I live in Ohio where it's 50% all around. HA! I got 7% in the back and 15% up front. Dark as hell, but when you have kids, it is one of those things that is really nice. Keeps the car semi-cool during the summer months. Haven't got pulled over yet, but time will tell.
Kinda off subject but I knew this kid who was talkin aobut gettin 75% on his car and he was talkin about how dark it was gonna be, and then he said that was darker than was legal and that the higher the % the darker it is

Thanks for all the info
Hey thanks for all the help so far, I just was going to ask if anyone has pictures of their maxima with the tint. I am thinking of doing 35% upfront to stay legal and then like 20% in the back just so it's dark. If anyone has pictures could you post them or gimmie a link. All you MAX owners in MASS help me out here!!
