OEM Brake pad questions, how do you know if you need new ones?

what kind are they, any better alternative for the same price? How much, or any cheaper but good brake pads. How do you know if you need new pads? Mine are sqealing like little pigs all the time.

Usually the squeak is caused by an indicator rubbing on your rotor. It does this to let you know that your pads are getting low, and need to be replaced. If it is squeaking, either take it to a buddy that knows cars, or take it to a respectable brake shop. You can also do it yourself.

the OEM pads are excellent. they don't dust very much and don't squeal until they are substantially worn down. they may also be squealing because of rocks or pebbles stuck in the pads. if you see abnormal wear lines on the rotors then it's likely debris in the pad...
