Replaced O2 sensor, now getting P0135 SES - Help

I just replaced one of my O2 Sensors, but, I am still getting a SES, the code is P0135 (O2 Sensor Heater Fault), this is on the same sensor that I just replaced i.e a brand new sensor, does anybody have any idea of what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance.

Did you have a code originally? If so, did you reset the code after changing the sensor? Autozone can do it free.

originally the code was P0171 (O2 Sensor 1 was bad (its a long, and somewhat funny story), so, I replaced it. I reset the ECU, and, when I reconnect the battery and start the car there is no light, so, I drive around for an hour or two, and, still no light, but, as soon as I switch the car off and restart it, the SES light comes on!!, I am baffled.

After I replaced the Sensor, the light was off for the first drive after the ecu had been reset, then I restarted the car, and, got the SES light, I got the code pulled and that is when they told me that it was P0135.
