"peg-leging" (kind of long)

I have a question on "peg-legging", which is the term i ve read in of the posts recently, but never heard before. From what I understood it's when only one of your tires is spining (just like it happens when on of your tires hits an ice patch) Is my understanding correct? is it caused by any malfunctions in the car?

The reason I am asking is because I think that's what has ahppened to me at the track last time I ran. I was reving up very quickly, without accelerating much (all the way through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd)...when i got to 4th i was only going like 50 mph, the car finaly started to drive "normally"....to me it seemed like my clutch was sliping, but i couldn't smell it at all when I stoped? what do you guys think that could have been?

yes i think you are right. i think it means only one tire is spinning. most of our cars only one tire spins. cept the canadian MAXs and I30s I think. We dont have a limited slip differential.

that second paragraph might need to be made a bit more clear...i have no clu what you are talking about

I don't think it was your clutch. was it raining that day? That happened to me a few times, and my clutch is fairly new(only about 3,000 miles on her). Maybe one of your tires was balding, and couldn't grab????

It wasn't raining that day, but it happened on my very last run, which was around 10pm, so I guess dew could have been a problem........I did check the tires this weekend, and they do not seemed worn at all.....although the car felt exactly as if I was driving on an ice patch
