Power Antenna problems

What does everone do about a bad antenna. Posted a thread a week ago and response was to buy a stock antenna. Checked it out and a Nissan antenna is $250!! A replacement from Auto Zone would require a real hack job to install. The factory unit has a 2-prong power plug and a 3-prong connector for the "timer" (not sure what this is). Has anyone had any luck with the ones on e-bay.

Thanks

here is the deal about the antenna...You dont buy the whole unit. Usually the mast is all thats broke or the plastic piece that pulls it up and down broke. If that is the problem then go here for instructions on replacement of the mast. You can pick them up from the dealer fairly cheap ($25 or so)

I have put an aftermarket antenna in 2 of my maximas before I ran across the org and found out about just getting the mast. I just found what wires were power and the signal from the radio to hook it up. It turned out nice and you cant tell its not factory.

I say get the mast and read the link I posted and fix the factory antenna.

good luck

I just replaced the mast about a week ago...it was about $42 from the local dealer here. The instructions that awsm66 mentioned above are the ones I used, and they were very detailed and helpful. Good luck.
