key got stuck on ignition.. help

well, subject says all. Tried search but didn't see anything useful.
I tried to take out my shift ****, so I put gear in N. After I finished with swapping shift ****, I tried to get the key out but it's stuck and can't take it out. It moves around ignition just fine, start car, turn on battery and off. But it wouldn't come out.
Any possible reason that it won't come out? Any possible way to take key out or do i have to replace ignition? Thanks in advance..

This used to happen in my 3rd gen. Just grab a hammer and lightly hit the key back and forth while your pressing the unlock button. It'll let go.

Is it an auto??? and try putting it back in park. the key won't come out if the car is not in park. Maybe you thought you were in park, and weren't. It's happened to me before....

This happened to me when I was turning off the car and my friend was messin around with the door locks. I couldn't take it out or start the car but the stupidest idea came in mind and it worked, prolly by mistake but anyway we resest the memory and than somehow it worked fine.

My grandma's CTS has similar symptoms. I figured out that the problem is that the shifter isn't quite locked into park. Giving the shifter a gentle forward nudge is enough to lock it in and release the key. That might work for you too.
