my max got keyed lastnight

Went to a church picnic lastnight to meet up with some friends, well decided we go out to the bars so I tried being responsible and leaving my car parked where it was at tonight. Well I go into work this morning and it one of my coworkers comes in and asks what happened to my car. I thought he was messing with me but i play along and go outside and look at my car. Its keyed all along the passenger side, and across the hood. Worst part is I just changed insurance companies about a month ago and my insurance finally went down to a resonable amount. So I dont know whether I should report it to my insurance or not. Called and filed a police report just incase, I think I know who did it but their isnt any way I prove it. Its amazing how disrespectful and imature people can be

I'm sorry to hear about that finny. I don't know how low your deductable is, but if it's more than $400 I would go ahead and take care of it all yourself. If it's less than $400 I think you should report it to the police. I'm thinking it will run $1000 for a good job (and I am a perfectionist). Sorry again, and good luck.

Vyrus is right. If it is all down the passenger side and the hood, you are probably better off painting the whole car. Repairing keyed paint is pretty time consuming. Depending on how deep the scratches are they may have to strip the paint. Keys will sometimes leave little creases in the sheetmetal. All this costs extra, and a good paint job will cost good $$$'s. Sorry to hear about that. It is an incredibly disrespectful thing to do. People don't realize what's involved in repairing stuff like that.

cover it up with stickers ......j/k i'm assuming touch up paint wont be a solution, try some rubbing compound, if that doesnt help, then get your car painted

depending on the size of the scratch, a good paint job will cost you about 2000-3000 dollars. Im sorry to hear that.

yea scratches are def too deep to buff out or cover up. im pretty sure my deductible is $250 i going to call my agent now and see what he has to say. im not sure if this will make my rates go up or not thats one thing im worried about. going to go out for some estimates and see how much damage is. now i just gotta decide if i wanna take the hit and get the whole car painted and do it right.

I've got light ones down both driver and passenger side, and a heavy 1 foot long one on my right rear. A lot of cars have been getting keyed lately. I bet due to the crappy economy.

a deep scratch will definately rust eventually if not repaired right....being sanded down adn repaint the whole panel. My tahoe got it on all four doors, fender and tail gate...was $1900.

1 claim is not going to kill you right away...but if you have anythign else this year you can expect to get a sizable rate hike or gettign dropped come renewal time....i'd claim it with a $250 deduc...stay with the company three years then shop around again....you'll come out even in the end i'd bet.

Wait! if it got keyed in your work parking lot. You can either hold them responsible or see if there was a servilence camera that got it on tape! then u can catch the motherF'er and beat the living crap out of him....or just hand him to the police!

i would personally just fill it a little with good oem paint and buff as good as possible.

Thats just what the *** that did it to you car wants you to do. PAY Money.
You should stoop that low, but i know it hurts.

This makes no sense. If your car looks like **** they still win. There's no justice to be had here unless he finds out who did it and takes a sledge hammer to their windows/body panels.

You can't touch up key marks...there's no way.

hey u should defiantely try to fix it first before getting the whole car painted again. I had a key line on my rear door and I used turtle scratch remover. It comes with this lipstick looking thing that you fill the scratch with and then let it dry and buff it out with the trurtle color fill...it works decent. I recently purchased a buffer and that did a much better job...the line is almost not visible. You should definetly try it. You have nothing to use by giving it a shot. Good luck!

other than the rear quarter, which should be able to be wetsanded and buffed out, repainting is the only way to go. ive tried the majority of the scratch stuff and touch ups and theyre nothing more than a temp fix. gotta wait to hear from the insurance and talk to the body shop and see what they can do
