Help clearing tail lights!!

For those who have cleared their tail lights,

I can't manage to separate the actual lense portion from the black fixture that holds the lense. I had no trouble pulling the whole thing out of the housing, but the lense is not coming off!!! I've used a glue gun - that didn't work! I've used a soldering gun - that didn't work either. Soldering gun gets pretty hot, so I don't know what else to use that's hotter.
So, what did you guys use to ply the lense off??? The whole ordeal took me 2 hours and I still didin't manage to take the lense off!!!

Thanx

glue gun ????

there is a thread somewhere here , but just preheat the oven to 225 deg's and put the entire light in there for about 3-5 min
keep checking it to make sure it won't melt
after they get nice and hot - just slowly separate them

good luck and be patient !!!!

Throw it in the oven at 300 for a few minutes. Watch it so that nothing melts or burns. That will get everything nice and hot for you...

why in god's name would you use a glue gun?

What you need is either the oven method, where you risk melting you taillights completely, or spend $10 and buy a heat gun. Then, get a flathead jeweler's screwdriver, and wedge it in there while you're heating up the edges, then pry it apart GENTLY.
