Fuel Injection Cleaning

What does anyone think of the fuel injection cleaning products sold by most dealerships? My 2002 Maxima has 28K miles and they make a good argument to have this service performed. Its about $140 and I don't know if it is worth the money.

Woops, almost forgot.....

Go to www.motorvate.ca for detailed instructions with PICS on how to clean your throttle body. Shouldn't take you more then 20 min.

I'm sure your capable of pouring the Techron in your gas tank without instructions.

BTW - The Fuel System Cleaner Nissan sells is indeed Techron, private labled for Nissan Corporation. Marketing 101

Tom,

Forgot about tax. Louisiana has 8.5%, so the $15.98 you quoted was $1.36 low. Actual DIY would be $17.34 in Louisiana.

The dealership would then only be ripping him off for $122.66. Unless of course the dealership cost doesn't include tax, then...

Anyways, njmaxseltd is exactly right.

my dealer put bg 44k in my tank for my '92 with 125k on it. they recommended it over the techron. probably because it costs three times as much as techron -- but i figured what's an extra $13 per 125,000 miles?

ps - i haven't noticed any difference since adding it. blah.

costco, 4 bottles of techron for $15 or $25 I believe.

I dont know if it made a difference. I also have a tendancy play around, ie. I dumped the bottle of techron into the gas tank empty, drove a few miles then went to the gas station and filled up. It was on a 91 Jimmy.

Actually BG44k is without a doubt the best fuel system cleaner available. Techron is good and I use it once in a while, but BG44k will clean everything up in your fuel system.

Techron fixed a stuck injector on my 90 GXE when my mechanic couldn't. He tried a bunch of stuff to get the injector to fire short of taking it out and banging on it. He turned up the fuel pressure, and I dumped in a bottle of techron fuel system cleaner, octane booster, and 91 gas.. and boom that injector came back to life. This was at about 155k.. It was still working at 170k when I decided to sell the car.
