Love my Injen!

I'm being a post ***** today.

Even in this 90+ degree heat, my car pulls harder with that intake on then it did stock. No low end loss at all, and the sound is just awsome! Power from this thing is where you need it, not just at the top end like a pop charger. (I'm speaking for Auto's here)

Those who complain about POP chargers and heat and who also say the Injen isn't a true CAI, own one and you'll understand.

These intakes are great!

Thanks for the info man!
So would you say it's loud?
How much and where did you get it?
Man I want one but I don't want my car to make noise. If the noise starts at the 4K RPM then I guess It would be ok.

You can hear the intake when you step on the gas a bit hard to accellerate. For istance, merging onto a highway or quickly jumping into a busy street. You hear nothing while your crusing.

All you need is a 10mm socket and a flat blade screwdriver. It's a piece of cake.

I have a 5spd and I love my Injen. It's not just for autos. The sound will really turn some heads at WOT, but when cruising, it sounds stock.

njmaxseltd, did you have to cut your inner fender for the filter to get cold air or does it route towards the bottom-front of the engine bay? I've seen an injen setup can't remember what car it's for but it was a sweet setup. The pipe goes all the way towards the front behind the front grille. The filter sits right in front of the radiator. Is this how the injen setup for the 95 is?

I just found out that Injen has several types of set-ups. Which one did you get njmaxseltd?

They only make one setup for the Maxima. (year specific)

njen gets it's air from next to the radiator, under the battery try. The radiator has a shrowd(sp?) around it and which allows the Injen to sit in an area that is not in direct radiator air flow. There is some cooler air down lower in the engine compartment. The corner where the Injen draws from isn't very hot. Today, 101 Degrees in NJ A/C cranking, I felt some hesitation or power loss from my engine. I wouldn't be suprised if it was ping and my KS that did it today or just the intense heat. No car would run strong on a day like today. Other then that, the intake screams and looks pretty damn good too.

Thanks for the reply njmaxseltd. I guess there's really no escaping the hot air from the engine bay. I have been looking at the 95 maxima's stock intake setup. It's pretty much a cold air ram intake already. The air scoop is connected to the air box, this allows cold air from outside, not from the bottom of the engine bay where air can still be hotter than the actual outside air temperature. Now I am looking at removing the intake resonator and getting some type of coupling from a hardware store to connect the MAF sensor assembly directly to the TB. Does anyone know what the intake resonator do? I'm pretty sure its not harmful to the engine if I remove this since the CAI or ram air like the Frankencar eliminates this part anyway. But I'm still curious to know what the intake resonator is for. In addition, I'm thinking of cutting a 2-1/2" hole into the airbox's section closest to the inner-fender wall. Then get another plastic coupling from the hardware store. I'll then cut a 2-1/2" hole into the inner-fender wall. Then use the plastic coupler to direct cool air from the front tire well thru the inner-fender hole, then thru the hole that was cut in the air box. So now, there'll be two places where the intake can actually suck cool air from: the front air scoop and the fender well. Then I'll use a K&N drop-in air filter for better air flow. Another thing that this will accomplish, aside from the obvious which is more cooler air, is that there should be virtually no loss of low end torque. I have done a similar setup on a full size truck, cutting a hole into the airbox to route more cool air into the intake. Not only did this maintain low end torque, it also enhanced performance and throttle response. It also made a deep throaty roar when mashing the accelerator.

What do you guys think of this set-up? Any suggestions or criticisms?

That sounds like a great idea. The two places the stock intake is restricted are going into the air box and the air scoup. Your mod will bypass both these problems.

Hummmmmmm You know what that does to this thread right??

Keep us informed on how this comes out.

I was thinking about the "worthless" thing right after I last posted. I don't have any pictures right now but I am thinking of doing a photoshop rendition of it to give you a visual.

Does you injen intake sound like a running faucet while at idle?

Sorry guys, I haven't even started on it! I found out, while changing my plugs over the weekend, that my valve cover gaskets are out and oil is leaking into the top of the plugs! So I am trying to take care of this first. Looks like I'm going to be taking the top part of my engine apart this weekend.

I have an InJen on my 5spd. I love it. minus a small suction noise that you dont really notice unless your listening for it, it pretty much sounds stock with alittle bit more at low levels, again you have to listen for it. when you get WOT and such it just growls, and its not something you can hear with out a load on the engine, oh man its just a thrill.

I spent a few minutes with Photoshop this morning to show the basics of how I'm going to hack the stock airbox. I'm retaining all the other stock intake tubings. The holes in the airbox, where the tubes will be going thru, will be sealed with a sensor-safe type silicon sealer. Let me know if you guys have more suggestions to add onto this.

Thats good Idea, but you might alos Redirect some Water and other stuff that way. I am not sure what you mean by intake resonator.........that could be for air speed adjustment in cold weather to worm up the engine. In 99 year maxima they have boost sensor so that could be what you talking about.

I'm pretty much sold on the Injen guys, but I have a 5 speed. Should I concider the frankencar? Why Frankencar for 5 speeds and Injen for autos? How many horses do you get to the crank/wheels with these?

This is what they call the intake resonator. This picture is off of the 2002 Maxima but the 95 Maxima has it too. This right infront of the TB.
