99 Auto Tranny Broken??? HELP NOW

Hey guys I have a 99 Auto Max with Aprox 49k on it, I change my oil every 2500 miles, and I encounterd a Problem yesterday! I droped my friend off at there school, As I was reversing out of the parking lot and then I shifted to driveand it wasnt working, I let my car cool down and started it again and it still wasnt working. Then I called my dad asking him what to do, and he told me to try to drive it home, Revers and 1 is still working. 1 is working a little and it barley pushes, I dont know what to do at all. I still have my warranty, and I bought an extended Bumper to Bumper last October when I purchased the Car. Can any one help me or advise me on what I should do?

check your fluid level. I bet it's low. start your car, put it in neutral, set parking brake then check your fluid.

Maxima has a 60k mile powertrain warranty. Take the car to the dealer, should be fixed as warranty work.

Auto trannies work by taking advantage of a fluid's viscosity to drive the car. Essentially, you have two splined discs passing next to one another -- one the driving disk, the other being driven. The fluid is the way the power is passed from one to the other. When the fluid gets low (your real problem), the power is not transferred (your symptom). The car won't go.

Fill the fluid, you'll fix the symptom. Find out where the fluid is going, you'll fix the problem.

Sounds like warranty time to me.

Good Luck!!
