My woman must drive max :( Power seats gonna last?

Hey guys. I bought a 2000 max GLE with dual power seats. Me and my girl carpool 30 miles to work in the max together everyday. At first we would fight over who was driving. "I wanna drive!" "NO WAY!" you know. Then we came up with a solution. She drives to work, i drive from work. Anyways, my question is this:

My girl is like 5'2 and im well, not. lol... so every trip we take the seats, mirrors and all have to be adjusted. Are these seats going to last me with this kind of wear? Ive never had power seats before, I dont want to ruin them!

thanks

power seat motors should outlast any use you have in the car...I've seen 20 year old american cars with power seats that still work

Doesn't the GLE come with pre-assigned seat settings for the power seat?

I know my 2k2 SE does.. the controls are on the driver's door.. should be a 1, 2, and SET button.

My wife and I do the same thing.. sort of..

I drive both ways and she gets up at night with our youngest. Sometimes she drives though.. the 2k2 and 2k3 cars have memory seats, at least on the se they do...

Its nice, but nothing like the memory settings on a lincoln ls..

That changes the outside mirror, steering wheel, and seat.

instead of switching daily, why not cut down on the swapping?

do what my sister and i used to do when we were little, on even days i got to sit in the front seat and at the head of the dinner table and on odd days she got to sit up fron with my mon and at the head of the dinner table.

odd days-you drive, even days-she drives. if you're worried about the seats wearing out then do that. it will cut the amount of wear in half.

Seat memory not available prior to 02. That's one option I would pay for if available (wife=5'3", me=6'4"). Not willing to give up my AE, tho.

im pretty sure it was standard. even if it wasnt standard on all maximas i would assume the SE had it (leaving the GXE without it)

the buttons should be right near your driver's door handle. to the left of about 9 o'clock on your steering wheel.

I think the autos have it, not the 6 speeds. Mine doesn't have it

With the key in the ignition and set to ACC or running, pull the e-brake up then press the set button and then #1 or #2. Done

Put the seat in the position that you want it to be in, then push and hold the set button until the 1 and 2 buttons light up green (I think they actually blink). Then push and hold the 1 or 2 button, and that's your setting. Repeat for another driver using the other numbered button...

yes, it's fine. I do it all the time, we got 3 drivers on the max, and we all have different heights.

I don't need my key in the ignition...and it won't let you change memory settings while in gear (like switching from 1 to 2...)

There is only 2 trim levels here for the '02 SE. "Base" and "leather/sunroof" package (which includes the Bose). Base includes ACC, the Meridian package and HLSD (on the later '02s). Yeah, I'm pretty sure the memory seats only come with the autos here.

I have a 2k3 Titanium edition Max and do not have the memory seats either. Is it because i have cloth seats? I drove a Cadillac Deville this week whilst on business in Toronto and it had the memory seats. It was nice!

Is there anyway to add this option if you do not currently have it?

I'm sure you'll be fine but....

...you can also do what I do:

Me = man = drives all the time.

Woman = never drives.

This rule of mine has been in effect since I got my license. My sisters and mom just hand the keys over to me. The girlfriends give me the keys to their car. I don't like not being in control of driving and will never let a woman drive when I'm in the car.

Not to start a war (with the 3 women on the board) but I just feel that women panic too much and are not capable of driving.

I'll never understand the combos that Jap car companies make. I'm happy my 2k3 has the memory feature but if you want cloth you don't have a choice to get it? Stupid. Oh, don't get me started on the BOSE system

I remember wanting to get ABS on one of my previous cars - in order to do so I had to get the sunroof and floor mats. I guess the ABS doesn't work without them

American cars will allow you to pretty much pick and choose the options - but there are other issues with them.

You can find and download pdf versions of your owner's manual at http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/nissa...?dept%5Fid=37. I think you can also order a replacement dead tree (paper) version from them. If not, the address to order is in the pdf file.

I did poke through there and it doesn't look like memory seats were offered as an option for that year. There's no mention in the owner's manual.

and its sad how 96 civics have sunroofs but my 2k2 max does not. its weird how thing are optioned. its all in how to make $ on the car. the lincolns have the best memory seat feature. but i find i do not need it because my seat is the farthest it can be in any direction except the back part.

hmmmm wouldn't that be the same thing he's saying ?Switching everyday would be the same as odd days even days.
