Y-Pipe/High-Flow Cat ?
Y-Pipe/High-Flow Cat ?
Need some info on this one. As I was driving my Max on the highway, I've noticed a funny sulfur order coming threw the vents. The first thing that came to mind was my CAT.
I have also notice a bit of lag when driving the car at high RPM's. Not sure if this points to the exhaust suystem in anyway?
I remember reading this post on the org a few days back. Some members suggested it being the clutch and others suggested the CAT going bad.
I've just installed my New ACT Clutch kit and Fidenza Flywheel. And I'm almost positive that the clutch is not burning.
I then decided to put the car on the lift and notice a black hole forming on top of the flex-pipe as if something burned threw from the inside. I guess it's time to change the OEM Y-pipe. We also looked into the OEM Cat and the honeycomb material seems OK, but it's black and filthy. My question now is, should I get the Stainless steel Y-pipe (TIG) with the High flow CAT from Warpspeed?? Or should I just get the stand-alone Y-pipe. I really not sure if my CAT will hold out indefinitely since my car has over 175,000 miles? Are the High-flow CAT's nessesary to gain power when used with the Y-pipe?? And by the way I do have a straight through exhuast. Hope the gains are worth it. Thanks.

Unless you cat is gone (which it sounds like it might be) getting a high flow cat is not worth it, esp for $170. They will give you maybe around 1 HP if that. The Y-pipe will be fine without one and still make just as much power.
Thanks for the info.
