how are these bulbs, they seem fairly cheaper in price compared to piaa's, do they look basically the same as piaa xtreme whites? im just looking for a good bulb that looks like HID and supposidly these silverstars are it..

 

My nephew has a 3rd Generation GXE and I bought him those bulbs last year for XMas. They're great but, get the PIAA's, I've got the fogs as well as the heads and absolutely love them, they're definitely worth the $$$. The Silverstars are cheaper but they just don't compare. Oh well, just my $.02

 

ya i figured the piaas wuldnt compare, but i was just curious since it wuld be so much easier and cheaper to goto autozone and pick up sylvanias.. just wanted to see if they were even close to looking like HID

 

I guess my problem is that, I had PIAA's on my last car also. A 2K V6 Accord Coupe, it just made such a difference, even without any fogs, everything was so much clearer. I drove in the fog the day after they were installed and I'm sure that was the only reason that I didn't wreck my car. Darn sure worth $100, no doubt in my mind. After all you're driving a very nice car, not a cheap car.

 

I have the Silverstars for my brights...trying to match my HID's. They are whiter than the stock bulbs. I'm sure the PIAA's would be a closer match, but for the money, the Silverstars are damn good.

 

I've got a pair of silverstars myself on my 2k1 and I can't say that I'm completely satisified as a former Piaa owner.

Although it is a good deal for the money and they definitely LOOK better than stock, Piaa's illuminate AND look WAY better...but that's just my opinion.

In the rain their ability to illuminate the road simply sucks.

The piaas cost more but the light Piaa's emit are closer to HID's than anything else I've personally seen.

 

The Xtreme whites look 10x better and perform better.

 

I replaced my PIAA Extreme Whites with Silverstars and I defy ANYONE to tell the difference. And they work just fine in the rain . . . what little we get here in So. Cal. As far as performance is concerned, PIAAs are notorious for burning out quickly . . . a fact I can personally attest to.

 

I loved mine before I got the real deal.

 

You are right they do burn out quick mine burnt out after only 9 months that sucks. However I did make a lot of long drives at night 2-3 hours at night but whatever good while they last

 

I have the S. stars and they work really well for the money. no problems yet and I will buy them again (IF) they burn out.

 

i have the silver stars, nice improvement, very noticable compared to stock fogs. I would like to get some HID's so I didnt spring for PIAA's.

My PIAAs lasted about 1 year. But I rarely drive at night. (My night vision isn't what it used to be.) Given the actual amount of hours on the bulbs, I can sum up my experience of PIAA longevity in one word:

DISMAL!

If I have to replace bulbs as often as the PIAAs would indicate, I'd much rather spend my money on Silverstars instead. Depending upon rebates and incentives, I can buy up to 3 sets of Silverstars for what one set of PIAA Extreme Whites cost me.

 

I guess that pretty much sums up my feelings too.

The Xtreme white is the bulb in the right headlight and the Silverstar is in the left. My fogs are Xtreme whites as well.

 

About how much do the Silverstars cost for the headlights and foglights? And, can I use them on a 2K? Thanks.

Been using silverstar in my 02 max for a while.They look great compared to the stock bulbs and will outlast the piaas anyday.I however did replace my fogs for the piaa.Oh BTW did you know your 02 max has sylvania as the hid's?

 

$19.99 in auto zone.Not sure if they fit in the 2k, easy check though . Just pull out your brights and if it say 9005 HB3, THATS THE ONE FOR YOU.i THINK IT'S LISTED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL TOO.
