Just got a TL five months ago, and there is no comparison
i'm gonna have to disagree...i've raced and killed tl's before...never lost to one...i have never driven one, but here is the edmunds.com info on it
Acceleration (0-60 mph): 7.7 sec.
Braking Distance (60-0 mph): 137 ft.
Roadholding Index: 0.78
Base Number of Cylinders: 6
Base Engine Size: 3.2 liters
Base Engine Type: V6
Horsepower: 225 hp @ 5600 rpm
Torque: 216 ft-lbs. @ 4700 rpm
now here are the edmunds 2k maxima se times
Acceleration (0-60 mph): 6.7 sec.
Braking Distance (60-0 mph): 126 ft.
Roadholding Index: 0.85
Base Number of Cylinders: 6
Base Engine Size: 3 liters
Base Engine Type: V6
Horsepower: 222 hp @ 6400 rpm
Torque: 217 ft-lbs. @ 4000 rpm
now i realize that the acceleration on a maxima automatic (i've seen anywhere from 7.1 upto 8.1 for a non-modded 2k max auto) is different than the stick...but forgetting about that, the maxima brakes 60-0 in 11 less feet (which is a LOT for 60-0 times), has .08 more roadholding (which is a TON if you know anything about roadholding...it will be very hard for a tl owner, even w/ springs, new tires, shocks, rsb, fstb to even get upto a .85)...maxima has 3 less hp, but makes up for it w/ a better engine...tl is a 5spd tiptronic which i DO like and i wish the maxima automatic had that option. i have not driven a 3.2tl, but i have heard a lot of bad things about them from others who looked into 3.2tl vs. maxima...my parents have an avalon and i enjoy driving it sometimes...it cannot take corners or go nearly as fast as my car nor does it have as nice of a stereo, but it has really really nice shocks and you don't feel bumps or anything while driving. lexus es is the lowest model lexus so thats not really a fair comparison...i guess they are about the same size inside and out, but since the lexus is the cheapest lexus out (at least to my knowledge), i don't think thats fair...i don't know what you wouldn't like about the lexus is...other than the fact that it is not as fast as a maxima, but faster than the tl...it looks really nice, handles much better than the tl...don't know what infiniti you tested but if you look at the cars you tested, infiniti's and lexus es's and avalon's are old person cars...only the maxima and lexus is are sporty cars and the tl falls in between...of course, i'm glad you are happy with the car you bought and i am happy with my car, too...acura does have much better service than nissan so that is a definite plus to owning one...however, if i were to choose an acura in that price range i would get a cl type s or get an integra type-r and modify it w/ the extra $7k
