How do you if your tranny is going...

Ok well cars been acting up and now i got a new problem, when i judt go from park to drive or driveto reverse ect. it clicks pretty loud. And then when im going to drive my first acceleration there a loud clicking noise and i can feel it, it seems to be in left side of engine by the battery...any ideas on wtf is wrong? thanks
