Can I SuperCharge a 1999 Maxima

I have read in the Stillen brochure that the V2 Supercharger(4th gen) are legal in the 50 states, but only for the 95-98 models. The supercharger can only be used off road on the 1999 model. Is this true?

Eh, aftermarket Y-pipes aren't legal either but I think 90% of the people on this board have one... Only place you really need to worry about having illegal aftermarket mods is in Cali, the cops there will make you pop your hood and check for CARB stickers. I'll assume that one you do get the supercharger you are going to be going the speed limit at all times, right?

really? is your car tuned? I have a rich A/F ratio and I dunno if it is going to affect the smog check. I was thinking about to take off the SC belt before the smog check.

btw, how did you pass visual?

thx

I'm not in Cali, so it might not apply to me.

No visual's around here, and they only check the engine up to 2000 or 2500rpm (I forget which.) Since there's no boost at that level under partial throttle, no FMU, and hence, no stink-mobile.

Can't you cali guys just find a crooked shop and toss em afew bucks to pass you? I was told to do that here if I failed.

I know someone has connection to those mechanics. but I have to drive about 30 miles for this service. I am thinking about somewhere local, somewhere that will let me try it without sending out the info to DMV.

otherwise, I have to loose the belt. but still, I cannot pass the visual.

my smog time is coming soon...
