my starter in the 95 went out..the nissan rep admitted that the 95 had a chronic problem..anyway, they want 495 bucks to replace it!!! i remember reading that someone said it was easy to change and a whole lot cheaper to buy aftermarket..any ideas? thanks a bunch..

 

Buy it from Courtesy (use your maxima.org disc), and do it yourself. It might take 30-45 minutes.

A True enthusiast doesn't take their cars in to let someone else work on them (unless its warranty).

 

thanks for the advice..a few more questions tho..well, the rep said it was the starter that was bad...but i thought bad starters clicked when they went bad or is that just when the battery dies? on my car, it turns and turns and turns until the battery dies but the car never starts..is that a bad starter?? the battery eventually dies when the starter uses it all up...now, it does start sometimes just as the battery is about to go.. intially i just thought it was a bad engine coolant sensor since the check engine light came on..but he said it was the bad 95 starter...what do u think??? thanks
