Air Filter Surprise
Air Filter Surprise
I took in my 2001 for its 3rd oil change at the good old Nissan dealership. They checked off that they looked at a whole bunch of things under the hood including the battery and air filter. Well guess what...after a short trip of a few hundred kilometres...I felt a little hesitation in the engine. I thought...this reminds me of an old Chev I used to own...that required an ultra clean air filter at all times. So I opened up the air filter compartment in the Max and to my surprise...it was filthy...it even had a little sticker in Japanese stuck to it from some factory inspector I guess. It had never been inspected since it left the factory. I cleaned it out, blew it out with air and put it back...and my car no longer hesitates...it is getting much needed air. As well, I noticed the car battery buttons have never been removed...(I marked them)...so I got some distilled water...and serviced it myself. I caution everyone about this experience. And finally...I understand there are some new high efficiency air filters available for the Max. without having to modify sensors and stuff...anyone try this? Any comments. Thanx
