Got three drips of nice clean engine oil on my garage floor this morning. There's a drip of oil hanging from the bellhousing vent hole at the bottom. I've already had the tranny out twice in the last two weeks!

I *HOPE* it's the half-moon seal and not the full housing that's leaking. I can pull the oil pan and replace that half-moon in an hour or two, but I DON'T want to pull the freakin' tranny AGAIN!!!!

I shoulda just left the fuggin seal untouched.

 

Why do you say that? Did you replace it and now its causing problems?

 

I was doing a clutch job/tranny rebuild and while the flysheel was off being resurfaced I figured I might as well swap out the seal. Now it's leaking like an SOB. There's about a quarter cup of oil under my car in the parking lot right now. I'm gonna pull the tranny again tonight. I could just swap the half-moon, but then I wouldn't be able to tell where it's leaking - if I pull the tranny I'll at least see where it's leaking from.

 

i have been having this problem all winter. now that it has warmed up i will have to pull tranny and oil pan to re-seal/silicone everything. if you let it get real bad every time you pull up to a light there will be a plume of smoke coming up from under your car. the oil leaks right onto my front pipe and burns, i even have a bad 02 sensor from the whole deal aaarrrggghhhh.
