Drop in rpm at 4k

When the car is in Drive with overdrive off and I punch it while it is at around 3.5k it goes up to 4k then drops below and then goes back up. And that **** gets on my nerves. But If I leave OD on and punch it from the same speed I think it down shifts to second. Anyone ever have the same prob or at least know what is going on? I resetting my ecu right now to see if that takes care of it.

The only hesitation I have is at about that same RPM area in third gear. Looking at the stock dyno from the 2k-2k1 maximas there is a slight drop in power right in that RPM range.

The drop is between 4500 and 5k RPM.

My car doesnt pull after about 4800rpms and I hate it I like the low end better than the top end. Ive been trying to figure out if it is the VIAS or not. But unfortunatly I dont have anyone to test pull with out here. And money is limited bc I have to pay this ticket. It seems like every time I think Im gonna have some free money for something, something else comes up.

I would definitely have your VIAS checked out because I love the top end of my car. As soon as my variable intake kicks in I have plenmty of top end power.

Y2KSESteve...do you have anything similar to the chart you posted above but with the 3.5 liter represented as well? I'm curious to see where it stands vs. the various gens of the 3.0.

No I actually dont. That dyno was put together by SteVTEC. I just borrowed it from the "The battle of the 3.0s" article that he wrote on the 3 liter engines.
