throw out bearing, oem vs act
Last night, as I backed out of my driveway, I had lots of clutch chatter, and soon I heard a crunching sound and my clutch fell to the floor. One of the hinges on the throw out bearing broke and I guess when I pressed the clutch it touched the spinning pressure plate and flew right off. Bearing flew back so far that it blew out my slave cylinder (b/c of the fork that there). I pulled the tranny, some of the teeth on the pressure plate were scratched up but nothing broken.
Anyway, question is, should I put in this used OEM bearing I have (it appears fine), unknown milage, I'd say it has at least half life left, or should I get a new ACT bearing, or new OEM bearing. The bearing I had in was the one that came with the ACT clutch. I don't see why it failed only after about 8k miles of driving. Is there even a major difference between the two? Cosmetically, they are almost identical. Any input? I'm starting to get frustrated with these damn ****ty nissan transmissions.
