Can we clean the MAF

Im just curious because I think IM running realy rich and my muffler pipe is very black. could it be a dirty MAF? Only reason im asking is because of the problems I hear with the MAF.

maf could be the problem along with with a dirty filter on your stillen intake. i never had problems with my maf but i cleaned mine with electronic parts cleaner a few months ago with no problems. i did notice a little bit of red residue come off the housing from the k&n.

Hey I've had my Franken/K&N for maybe 1500 miles- Is MAF failure
something thats going to eventually happen- I'm thinkin about
servicing the car (15,000mile) and askin them to change it , And
asking for an ainti theft kit (HID) as the excuse for the visit-
Will they change the MAF if its not faulty????

you take out the two what i call security hex screws and pop the sensor out. i definately wouldnt try spraying anything past the screen because it could puddle in the intake tube. just pull it out to clean it with whatever you think will work. electrical parts cleaner worked fine for me and its safe for the plastic housing.
