Fuel Pump Went! Need Help

HI,

I have a 92 maxima se, auto with 217000km, my fuel pump just went I would like to know if any other Nissan's fuel pump can be installed in my Maxima?
Please tell me which cars have the same fuel pump because I live in Toronto area and it's really hard to get a used maxima pump.

Thanks for you help.

You don't want an used maxima pump. You want a new pump. Nissan/Aftermarket or whatever. Since you SHOULD buy a new one, all of themm should be equally easy to get.

And this is how you do it.

How do you know which pump to get? There are three listed for the max.

Well you should stay away from the HP (high press model) for starters. the 190lph is stock, and the 255lph is if you want a little more . Personally I went with the 255, and I've heard that a new fuel pressure should be used. So If your stock (or a gxe ) , then you should stick with the 190.

You on your stock fuel pressure regulator? I think your idle and maybe the wot pressure might be too high. If the stock unit can regulate the 255lph version, I'd be very happy to hear that

Yeah I think the pressure is too high, but the ecu seems to handle it well . The idle is fine and the engines got crazy power latley. I'm too lazy to hook up a pressure guage, but I guess I'll have to sooner or later. Anyone have suggestions on a good FPR!

Hmmm I have the walbro sitting in my office! hehe. I have a fuel pressure guage but I'm also too lazy to hook it up. Glad to hear it works well. Have you had the chance to run it through emissions or dyno with the wideband?? Wishfull thinking probably but thought I'd ask.

I'm suprised you haven't measured the fuel pressures. You're one of the most diligent maintainance guys I see here!

A couple weeks ago I spoke to an infinity guy with the same pump, except he has a fpr guage in the car. He said his press went up something like 5psi (thats a lot).

So thats why I'm more leaning towards a new fpr, I want the kind thats a simple bolt on, I dont wanna have to tap/thread the fuel rail. I know they make the adaptor for the fuel rail.

I'd say install it jeff, I've had no problems or drivability issues. Make sure you have the install kit, replacing the filter (on the pump) is a must.

I love maintaining my car, I keep buying stuff for it, but I have less and less time to work on it
