times from my first run at the track!

still excited from the rush. I know its not much, but it was my first time racing.

1/8th mile track
Irwindale Speedway
88 degrees F
Incredibly sticky track. One of our socal members lost his shoe while walking across it. He also ran a 2.11 sixty foot later on in the day without slicks

2001 Maxima SE AUTO
stock suspension, frankencar intake
34 psi front, 32 rear with spare tire removed
16" stock gle wheels with stock toyo proxes tires
2-3 gallons left in tank

1st run: (1.4k rpm brake torque, "D" all the way)
R/T: .846
60': 2.380
330: 6.771
1/8: 10.300
MPH: 70.57
Lost to a yellow old 70's mustang that ran 7.138 @ 97.79mph

2nd run: (1.3k rpm brake torque, manually shift into 2nd gear)
R/T: .899
60': 2.424
330: 6.781
1/8: 10.295
MPH: 70.98
Beat a old late 80's mustang that ran 10.921 @ 65.51

3rd run: (1.2k rpm brake torque, manually shifting)
R/T: .667
60': 2.448
330: 6.751
1/8: 10.211
MPH: 71.72
Lost to a old 70s mustang on slicks and nitrous that ran 7.576 @ 91.21

4th run: (1k rpm brake torque, manually shifting)
R/T: .685
60': 2.387
330: 6.685
1/8: 10.135
MPH: 71.83
Beat a firebird that had a reaction of 1.3 seconds, and 2.6 sixty feet that ran a 10.3 @ 75.25 (the announcer was impressed)

well it looks like you learned as you went along. so what do those #'s equate to roughly in the 1/4 mile?

um, if you multiply the 1/8 times by 1.55, that is my 1/4 mile time. Which comes out to 15.8 but i'm not sure at what mph. The 1/4 mile track suck around here so I'm planning to just do 1/8 runs

MPH is a little more tricky because it's dependent on your powerband, but you can multiply your mph by about 1.25 to 1.27 to get your estimated 1/4 mile MPH. Or you can use simple addition, a car with your power to weight ratio will probably gain about 17-18 mph in the last 1/8th mile which would give you about 88-89mph in the 1/4 which sounds about right.

cool I'm surprised at how the car ran despite the heat

now i can return the lease happily now
