spark knock

a while ago i advanced my timing to 20*. i always listen real close for knocking and never heard anything. but today, 2000 miles after i had advanced my timing, i heard the most horrible knocking. i was flooring it through first let up to shift to second and heard like 20 crackling sounds, and it sounded to so bad. i pulled over to put my timing back to just before the stock mark, which is id guess, 16 or 17*. my question is, did those 2000 miles just take 20,000 miles off the life of my engine?

btw: i always use premium

Yup, I bet they did. In fact I'd be supprised if your car doesn't blow up before you come to the next stop sign.
