Invest more money into 91 GXe, or get 97 SE?

I'd need to save 5-7k to get a 97 SE 5spd (any color except white is fine), but would it be better to get that, or just put the mony into my 91 GXE auto? It has a brand new transmission, new injectors, but I'll probably give it to my sister if I get the new one...
which one would be the better solution to go with? Or even wait a year longer and get a 200-2002 model? I like the look of the 97, but doesn't it have the same engine and everything as a 92 SE?
Basically, what would you do, keep the care or save up for what?

I'd take a '91 GXE in good shape over a '97 SE any day. I have owned both.

Are you wanting have an awesome ride that'll turn heads? Speed demon? Ride to get you from A to B?

I say just put a little bit into your VG to make you happy and then drive it for a couple years while I'm saving. That's what I'm gonna do, except I'm putting a whole lotta dough into it(well, insurance money) and then driving it for 4 years and then saving the entire time for my next car

Well, mainly want the speed demon, and somewhat a ride to turn heads. I think I'm going to put exhaust on my 91, but I don't know if putting anything else on there would be worth it....

the 91gxe is never going to be a speed demon. get the 97se cuz newer, may not look as good, but goes much harder.

personally, I think all maximas look great. I'd get the 97 SE 5spd because the VE 3rd gens with a 5spd are extremely hard to find around here.

Okay. So do you think the exhaust on the 91 would be worth the $650 for the full exhaust? Or just put it towards the 97 by christmas? Or even save up for a 2000-2003 for next summer, even though it would cost several thousand more? Which would be the cheapest/best performance thing to do, in your opinion? (I think souping(?) up the GXE isn't going to be worth it...)

If your looking for a speed demon, I would go with the 5 speed all the way. The 92 SE and 97's have different engines but the same horsepower. From what I understand the 97 engines (VQ) doesn't have as many problems as the 92 SE (VE) engine. (Like VTC's) It is suppose to be more reliable, but you might want to check with some of the 4 gens on that. In my opinion it would take quite a bit of money and work to get the VG to the speed of the VQ stock and there are alot more mods available for the 4th gens. But its up to you, I think I will have to make a similar decision in about year. (My wife wants to make sure I get a more reliable car, since my transmision is about to go out.)
