02/03 Maxima vs. A House....who wins?

TAMARAC -- Late this afternoon, a car went out of control, crashed through street signs and sailed into the wall of a South Florida home.Twenty-four-year-old Todd Harris, was driving home from work when he fell asleep at the wheel.
He was driving his white Nissan Maxima along Hiatus Road when it went out of control, crossed over McNab, smashed road signs, hit an embankment, launched through a fence and plowed into the bedroom of Thomas Neufuss.
Mark Shafer of the Broward Sheriff's Office says, "The gentleman was headed home, he's been fatigued, he's been working a lot of hours and he just briefly fell asleep while he was driving."
Thomas Neufuss was at home with his dog at the time of the accident. He had left the bedroom only minutes before the accident.
Thomas says, "I'm just thankful that I got out of the bedroom."
Thomas's daughter, Linda Angelotti, is also thankful and says that she thought one day something like this might happen.
She says, "The thought just went through my mind, just seeing that house right there with no protection...that he was a target."
Neighbors watched as car was eventually pulled out of the home and towed away.
One neighbor says, "I think it's terrible...they speed here like crazy...they ought to do something."
Neighbor, Jeff Arouesty says, "It's a dangerous area...we've been asking for a wall to be put up by the city and maybe this will give us some response."
The damage to the home has been estimated at $50,000.
Mr. Neufuss won't be staying in his home, he will be staying with a daughter.
Mr. Harris refused transportation to the hospital. Instead he drove himself to University Hospital with a possible broken foot.
Charges are pending.

he just got into an accident from falling asleep...now he wants to drive with a possible broken foot?

I probably would drive myself to the hospital too. The ambulance ride alone is worth a couple car payments!
Maybe he didn't have health insurance, I know if I didn't I'd be thinking *cheaper is better*.

Hell yeah the OVERESTIMATED the damages...that Dam house is probably worth 50K brand new so I don't know where the hell they got those estimates from.
If its was here in Seattle then I could probably see that much in damages cause the house would probably worth around 200k depending on the locatation.

yeah "locatation" here in Seattle is important - $640k for my friend's 2000 sq ft house.
Anyway - Maybe the guy REALLY found out the house owner worked for the Altezza factory or something and gave him a piece of his mind.
