Do you think that boosting an 100K car is good?

Do you think that boosting an 100K car is good?

I was very interested in purchasing a turbo or supercharger for my 1997 maxima but i am very hesitant because my car has about 120k.I ride the maxima like a daily car with a couple of street races a month. The car is in great condition with no problems. Do you think that putting a boost like that would ruin my car since it has so many miles? I just wanted to know what you guys thought about this.

Just do a compression test. If all tests well then go for boost It's just you

just FYI: Benblanco218 had a very high milage motor and he supercharged it......it did really well on dyno and gave a really high whp, 278whp/256lb IIRC. He has a 4th gen and he has more whp than my 5th gen (we both have same tranny).

But I heard him recenetly blew his head gasket...

I had 125,000 miles on my 97 when I turbo'd it. I am now at 128,000 and counting.

Compression test is the best way to tell if your motor is ok.

I hope not. I installed my SC when my car had 120k miles on it. After 12000 miles the compression is unchanged and it still idles as smooth as before. So the engine is handling it well.

With a high mileage car you may have problems with old axles, cv joints, clutch or auto tranny, control arm bushings, etc. now having to cope with the additional power you're subjecting them to. In my case I did a tranny conversion prior to adding the SC, so I haven't had any problems there, either.

where would you go to get a compression test? And what does that test do?

it tests what kind of condition the piston, rings, valves are in, i would think any auto shop would be able to do it just call around

You can also tell if your compression is bad if you have a rocky idle, your car has poor acceleration, or your breather valve is leaking oil.
