I am 99.2% sure that they perform the same. They are the same unit.

The people who claim more performance gain from the Stillen Hi-Flo are they people that paid waaaay too much for the same product. True they got a carb certified intake. But performance wise.. they got nothing special.

main difference is that the Stillen intake uses a genuine K&N filter; the JWT unit is a generic K&N "style" filter. No performance differences, though. I've got a JWT on my Z

For $220 you can get a good CAI

For about the same $$ as a Stillen POP (which I had...then trashed) you can get a good quality CAI.

Yeah, go with the CAI. It is more expensive, but it gives you twice the horsepower gain to the wheels.

Max-Rev CAI install pics

I have a 25 picture sequence of the Max-Rev CAI kit being installed. I'll email to anyone who wants it.

It works great. The biggest difference I notice between the Max-Rev CAI and the Stillen HiFlow underhood is when the weather cools. Living with the heat in AZ the performance difference is less when it's hot (as in >85 degrees...today was 101). When it's hot, it's hot; sucking air from about 1.5 feet above the pavement in the noon day sun (always sun) isn't going to give the night/day difference versus stock or underhood whether Stillen, JWT or anything else. However when the temperature starts to cool, <85 degrees, the difference is more apparent to me. When I get into 40~60 degree air is when this motor starts to wake up with the CAI. That is when there is a greater difference in intake air temp between a CAI and any underhood so called POP charger.

Because I had the Stillen unit prior to the Max-Rev CAI it was easy to compare. I installed the Stillen unit first on a trip to the west coast. In the cool dense air at sea level along the beaches of S.Ca. it provided more power than the stock air intake and definitely was louder. After returning to the Phoenix area where I live I discovered that the car wasn't as quick as when the stock air box was on it. In retrospect it should have occured to me that this was to be expected. I've never put a temp guage under the hood but I can tell you that running down to Nogales at 90~100 mph in 110 degree weather with the A/C turned up full tilt that my motor is putting out some serious heat. Pumping that underhood air into the motor is not going to give big, or any, power gains. I wrote of the cost of the Stillen unit to experience, kicked myself in the behind and put in the CAI. If you live in Alaska you might prefer an underhood unit.

Another intake option / Stillen vs. JWT

One thing I have done to my car is take out the Stillen intake kit and put on the stock air box with OEM air filter... Except I left off the restrictive plastic intake pieces that run from the bottom of the air box up to the top of the radiator and also to below the battery.

I notice that feels just about as good if not a little better from idle to 5000RPM as compared to Stillen intake. From 5000-7000 RPM, I guess the Stillen intake runs a little stronger.

What I like about the stock air box (minus restrictive add-on pieces) is that I don't have a torque drop-out (maybe about 10-15%) between 2500-3300 RPM like I frequently noticed with the Stillen K&N intake. The throttle response in this range feels better too with the OEM air box.

At first I thought that having the air box fully opened at the bottom might draw in excessively hot air... But then I figured the Stillen K&N unit is out in the open too for all the hot engine air.

If anybody out there would like to try removing these "restrictor pieces" from their air box, I'd be interested in hearing how it worked out. At least it is a free modification. Thanks...
