'98 Maxima VS. S13 240sx VS. Harley F150 VS. Lightning VS. civic VS. 5th gen.

I don’t know what is going on in South Jersey lately but I have been getting into some racing. Normally I never see anyone that will race or I don’t bother cause I know what the outcome will be…whether I will smoke the Saturn next to me or lose terribly to the LS1 lined up with me.

WED. NIGHT wasn’t that great so skip to the THURS if you don’t feel like reading.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Well last night I got into a race with a civic from about 20mph to 80…I come off a red light normally and he is behind me. I see him gun it behind me and swing out next to me, as soon as he is next to me I hit it. I immediately and swiftly destroy him. No contest. By 80 I had too many cars to even estimate.

So I am cruising back after that, ready to go home. I hear a rumbling over the hill. I come over and what do we have but a lowered pickup making all that noise??? AHHH yes, a Lightning. Hehe. I am not stupid. I knew the outcome beforehand but what the hay, its still fun. So I pull up next to him, I am guessing I was going about 60. I was in 3rd gear at about 4500rpm and my car was making tons of noise. He knew what was going on. I slide up next to him, match his speed, and he guns it. I hit it, he jumps ahead immediately about 2 car lengths, but then I would like to say that I sorda kept up. We only went to about 100mph so I wanna say he really didn’t pull that much. He definitely beat me by a lot so whatever….you know “winning is winning! And nothing else matters!” hehe. Still fun tho.

THURSDAY NIGHT (HERE YOU GO MECCA)
I am at a red light and all of a sudden on green 3 cars(S13 Silvia, Harley Davidson F150, and a Dodge pickup) are going at it. I jump in late cause I had no idea that was going to happen and keep up but behind cause of my late start.

So next light we pull up to I know its on. Dodge falls out cause now its only 3 lanes. S13(Nissan 240sx with Japanese turbo conversion, if you don’t know) is to my left. HD F150 swings to my right(****ing moron) where his lane ended 50 ft past the intersection. Anyway green goes. I launch slightly ahead of the S13(wasn’t really looking at the HD F150 at first) and we are neck and neck. F150 pushes me over into S13 lane which makes me ****ing break so I don’t hit the dude. F150 guy was a *******…took my lane from me. I wasn’t going to mess with a 2 ton plus pickup. So that race was really only top of second gear with me right at the S13’s front tires. F150 was behind me, right about at my rear wheels. Mad props to that truck for being that fast but that dude was a ****. I was definitely impressed by the truck though.

Next light only 2 lanes. Just me and the S13. I launch hard and better than the first time. We are pretty much neck and neck until the top of 3rd gear, where I hear that turbo and see him pull hard past me. I am guessing his car was probably a high 13 sec car. He had a roll cage. I would think that would suck if I had a turbo 240 with a roll cage and a soccer mom’s car kept up like that. But whatever….I thought this was one of the coolest races I have had to date. His car looked and sounded bad as hell.

Fun couple of nights. Tonight’s racing was on the way to Philly to go to the club. Got some digits and my **** rubbed pretty nicely while I was there too so all and all a fun little night.

After the racing, my best friend who has told me numerous times that I am an idiot for hooking up a Maxima, told me that I need a turbo.

FRIDAY NIGHT
Took an '03 Max until just after my 1-2 shift. Had to slow after that cause road was 35mph. Not sure if he was auto or stick but he chirped off the line. MY FIRST MAXIMA RACE ON THE STREET!!! raced at the track before but not on the street.

nice races, sounds like you have a lot of fun. but the sr20det motors have insane potential, so be careful. on that stock motor, you can see 12's with $1500. gotta love turbo

thanks for the feedback fellas. yeah you are right Jay. i was thinking more along the lines of turbo. money permitting.......

MODS can we move this to "General Max Discussion"???
thats where I meant to put it....

i talked to a dude from Bimmerforums and he said that he knows the guy that owns the S13 and he said it runs high 13s like I had guessed.

i got a lecture about calling it a "silvia" over at bimmerforums. I forgot to change the post. i just copied and pasted from what I wrote over there. he told me it was a silvia so thats why I called it that.

I like a good run once in a while, I know you can not win them all, but you can seek improvement like I always do

Those SR20DET's are so sweet. I saw an S13 back at my school that looked totally stock, same old wheels and everything, with its hood propped up at a local show. I though, "Man, this guy must have a lot of love for his old car if he'd proud of a SOHC little truck motor..." But when I approached it I saw the turbo and intercooler and thought "This is my hero."

He took off not long after that; some guy in a modified new Eclipse (the slow ones) wanted to race him. SR20 man and his friend hop in his car to go race the eclipse and I hear SR20 say, "Yeah he says he has a 150 shot" and the friend goes, "You didn't tell him you have a 75 shot, too?" That must be a fast car. If I get the chance I might give up my Maxima for a clean 240SX 5spd and mod it up.

So true. I usually win against the rice burners but I will race the big boys just for the fun of it. Every Sunday after church on the way to my Uncles house there is a long stretch of clear road and me and my cousin race (Harley Davidson SC Ford Truck) he beats me everytime but it is all in fun.

Last weekend at the local meet I was following a group of domestics trying to line up against a GTP, and he ended up turning off. A 92 5.0 rolls up next to me and the guy in the passengers seat asks me to punch it, I say "don't pick on the imports" and he say's what do you have, I say pretty much stock. He then asks what that thing hanging down in the front of my car is (intake cooler) and I say just an intake. So we go at it just for fun (the dude was really cool) and from a 35 punch we are neck and neck up to 80 and he slowly starts pulling me, I wave as they start to go by. The guy slows down and asks me if I have the bottle, I say no just a intake and exhaust, I ask what they have, he had a 5-speed with headers and a K&N intake and nitrous (they had used all their juice already of course.) So any way they ask me to follow them and they tell their friends about how fast my car was, I was happy even though I lost.

I have to really hold back from putting some spray on this car, I really want to wait until the next vehicle to get serious with. My buddy just got done with his 95 GSX, huge frankenstein turbo, 880 cc injectors , ECU uplink, fluidyne radiator, greddy large front mount, suspension, big brake kit, blackhousing projectors, CF hood (the car is black so it really fits) a 97-99 front end, and much more. The car looks awesome! I will hopefully be modding an 03 Cobra or a G35 coupe/350Z (with a Stillen SC) to stay in the VQ family. But for right now I am having fun without going over budget and this car surprises me somtimes with a lot of wins.

Great races keep us updated on!
