Bunny-sized chunk of leaves/seeds etc. found under hood!
So I finally found time to clean my engine compartment this weekend. I started by setting my shopvac on 'blower' and proceeded to blow out all the leaves and junk that had accumulated under the hood.
I stuck the vac nozzle into the intake valley, near the KS, just to make sure nothing was in there. Well, there was something lodged in there! I alternated blowing from the left and right sides of the car, finally this huge thing popped out the opening. It was bunny-sized! I'm talking 3" dia and 6" long, a chunk of old leaves, dandilion fuzzies and other unknown matter.
Anyway, it surprised the heck out of me. I checked to make sure it wasn't something biological (like dead mice or something.) My car has never been stored long enough for something to climb in there and build a nest, but who knows.
So, word to the wise. If you're a novice detailer (like myself), expect to find several bizarre collections of junk under the hood. Had this thing become dislodged and landed on something hot, it definitely would've ignited and caused an unpleasant fire.
My $.02.
