pads can be messy but are more comfortable than tampons.

 

 

Our track sells race gas for approx 40-45 bucks for a 5 gal pail.

Its 115 Octane unleaded so its safe for O2 sensors and is also great for keeping the knock monster at bay.

One of these will last an entire season and I race approx every two weeks.

 

You can swim with a tampon, kinda stupid with a pad.
If the string breaks on a tampon, trouble. No string on pads.
Pads are more hygienic, and easier to place.
Pads can come with wings (for the Rice look), tampons don't.
Tampons don't have to be changed as often, but don't exceed 8 hours with the same one.

Just because your car is slow doesn't mean other people can't make use of it.

Your motor isn't cheap, why try to be cheap with gas.
Pay the blessed $5 per gallon of C16 and get it over with, at least you know you are getting good gas that is tested and will not harm the motor.

I guess I'm the kind of moron who tried that, and liked my results.


I figured other members here have more than just a Maxima. I for one have a 68 Mustang (pics in link in the Sig, incase your interested). I decided I've got less than half a tank of 93 premium in it, I've got nothing to loose, so I went ahead and did it. It has some really cool results, 1. not only did my car have alot more getup under it, but also when I hooked up a flame thrower, the exhaust became more of a bright blue with a hint of red right out of the tip vs. being a small hint of blue with a yellow flame. (yes, my car runs rich)


I also have nothing to loose because if something where to happen to the motor, I'm going to be rebuilding it anyway, and seeing as I havent driven the car more than 10 miles since I bought it 8 months ago, I dont mind "downtime" (i have it registered as a Collector Car).

 

Also you might want to note that C16 has a 117.5 R+M/2 rating while the Xylene has a 117 R+M/2 rating.

Other forumla R+M/2 Ratings are:
Toluene = 114 R+M/2
Methyl-tertiary-butyl-ether (MTBE) = 118 R+M/2
Methanol or Ethanol = 101 R+M/2
Isopropyl Alcohol and Tertiary Butyl Alcohol = 101 R+M/2

Also the industry price for Xylene is $2.75 a gallon. So it is cheaper than the race gas, you might just have to go to a paint store or chemical supply house.

 

Thats good info and it's prolly worth trying this on a motor you are going to rebuild anyway on a car that you don't drive everyday.

I still would not put it in my car.

Now what is going to happen is a bunch of people are going to go to the paint supply store and buy xylene. They will then go home, dump the gallon in the tank and drive around hoping the car gets faster.

Na, this is a Maxima board, not a Honda Board, I'd say only a few active members will try, probably when their bored and have nothing else to do.

By the time you actually need to use this high of an octane, I would sure hope that the car isnt a daily driver, otherwise that will get very expensive, very quickly.
