I have a 93 Maxima GXE , I am getting an intermittent misfire at idle. The engine starts fine and does not misfire at speed at all, at idle it may idle fine and then it will stumble a bit just lowering the rpms somewhat but not enough to stall. It is very intermittent , I can also hear a "pop" sound - a misfire - through the muffler , again not constant.
The plugs, pcv, fuel filter, air filter were recently replaced (before the problem) and I just replaced these today: disty cap, plug wires & rotor. Any ideas?

I'd check the connectors to the injectors from the harness, try wiggleing them and see if it gets worse/better. If thats the cause(was on mine) clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner.. Hope this helps.

 

Do a check for vacumn leaks. If any of your vacumn hoses are dry and brittle, replace them. Sometimes, a lot of bad idling can be attributed to worn and deterorated vacumn hoses.
