Anybody know the difference? Are they interchangable? They are around the same price at Pep Boys but there are a bunch of more choices in colors for the engine paint.

Andy I used the engine paint over a year ago and its still holding up. Other then me scartching it when I was putting my rims back on it looks the same as the day I did it.

I think the difference is the tempurature ranges claimed. The caliper paints I've seen are 900 degrees, engine is 500 degrees and manifold is 1500 degrees. I don't have personal experiance so I'm not sure how they'll hold up on calipers.

I posted a question about using grill paint (I think it was like 2000 degrees) on my rotor hubs and someone said it lasted, others said it didn't. The rotors take more abuse than the calipers though.

Well, the reason I ask is because I want to paint them a high gloss gunmetal color, but they don't make that color in caliper paint.

I guess I might just do black or leave them alone.

I really doubt the caliper reaches 500 deg F. The pads and rotor maybe, but not really the caliper.

True, but be careful when putting on new pads/rotors. The added heat from break-in could cause a problem.

Under repeated runs at the track perhaps, but I agree under normal conditions probably not. The brakes are also getting cooled by outside air. I say go for it with the glossy gunmetal and post some pics!
