2k1 oem filter part numbers

I know this might be a rookie like question, but does anyone have the oem part numbers for an oil filter on a 2001 Max, production 04/01. Time for my second oil change since I bought the car and the filter I bought at the dealer, part #15208-65F00 looks a lot smaller than the one that the dealer put on when they did my service at time of purchase. I've seen that quite a few of you have put a lot of time into filter research, and I want to take advantage of that. If I can run a different filter with a higher capacity, that seems like the right thing to do. Besides the guy behind the counter questioned me when I said that I had the 3.0, he told me that he was pretty sure that they stopped putting the 3.0 in that year and asked me if I had the 3.5 taken out and had the 3.0 put in. I hope it was his first day!

uhm, if your car is said to be a 2001 then you have a 3.0 liter engine. As for the filter, I've heard that the 3.5 liter engines uses a smaller filter. They are interchangeable. I've used Amsoil's filters and the one they have for my 2000, is small. The filter you have now is probably the new smaller one. It'll work. You should just ask the parts department for the part number and tell them you have a the vq30de engine. Plus why whould you take outthe 3.5 and replace it with the 3.0? if you did that you would have had to change your tranny, exhaust, computer, and all sorts of stuff. What an idiot. Another reason I don't like going to some dealerships. You think they shoud know what's up, but they're human and are sometime incompetent. Sorry, can't help you with the part number.

As for the size, they all work, I've tried using a filter that works with a 1987 Hyundai Excel, it's a bit bigger but the thread size and the gasket size is the same. I use Purolator Pure One oil filters... in the size for the 3.0.
