which exhaust/ muffler?
which exhaust/ muffler?
I just got my maxima sunday.
2003 se 12000 miles automatic
i want to buy an exhaust system for it, but am stumped
i dont want it to sound like those rice rocket honda and sentras i see all over ( sounds like a supercharged lawnmower, I cant stand the high pithed sound it makes, sounds like the motor is 2000 HP, HAMSTER POWER !!
I want a deep throaty sound but want it only to be loud at WOT and high rpms, but quiet at idle and below 3000 rpm
I also want to keep the stock look / duel pipes
i dont want 12 inch diameter tips, j/k I think the big tips look silly.
also need to be able to produce immediate power... 10-15 and be sebstatial enough to handle 300-350 hp
any suggestions ?

300-350hp!?! Unless you plan on getting a SC (I don't believe they are avail yet for 3.5) and some NAWZ your numbers are might ambitious. There are a few good exhausts out there with varying looks, performance, and sounds. I would start here. Somebody posts about their new exhaust daily so use the search too. Also, the Stillen headers are "supposed" to be out in about 6 months.
You have a 6cyl car, it won't sound like a honda unless you buy a 10$ muffler off ebay. Maybe check out warpspeedperformance.com .. I think they've got B-pipes for your car that should give some decent performance gains. A flowmaster, dynomax, or magnaflow universal should give you a deep sound and unless you put on some huge tips, it'll look pretty stock.

Rice my friend, thats all rice
Trust me on this 1, get a y-pipe just try it and tell me its not loud. It might look good (I personally dont like single tip, but to each his own) and it might sound good now...but with a y-pipe its gonna be a complete different story. Oh and dont 4get the b-pipe as well. Use search if you dont know what im talking about and I almost 4got...Welcome to the org

Sounds great but at WOT i think this will too loud with headers y-pipe and b-pipe...
does this come in a catback system? I wish to install the exhaust myself but i need no welding, using just existing brackets and bolts
would this work for this ?
or can someone point me towards a catback system?
