Any VE 5spd guys using a Harlan Shift Light?
Any VE 5spd guys using a Harlan Shift Light?
If so...
Please explain to me how you've got it wired up. I thought I had mine wired up properly, but to my surprise it didnt light up at all when I finally took it up to redline the other day for the first time since my I put in the new/rebuilt tranny.
I know I've got the power/ground hooked up right. I THOUGHT I had the tach line (green wire on the Harlan unit) ran to the proper line behind the gauge cluster, but apparantly I was wrong. Which wire do you guys have it run to? And do you have the number of cylinders set on coil per plug (which is what I assume)...or just 6 cyl?
If all else fails I can run it to the 'switched side of an ignition coil' if anyone cares to explain what that is.

Try setting it for like 4000rpm and see if it comes on. If you were to hook it up to the coil you'd set it up for 1 cylinder. However since your going from behind the tach I guess 6 cylinder sounds right. Then again your tach could be off too. My tach reads 400rpm fast at 6000rpm and 500rpm fast @ 7000rpm.
Nismo...
I definitely tried the setting it for a lower RPM thing. I played around with like 4-5 different wires which seemed to me to be the tach line with no success. I was setting it for like 2500 so I could rev it up in the driveway and test it but not **** off the neighbors with constant redlining.
I am assuming correct that I should have it on the 'coil per plug' setting assuming VE's are distributorless, no?
Regardless I tried like 50 diff. combinations and still couldnt get it to work properly
Maxtuned...what's the TAM? Is that coming from behind the gauge cluster? What color(s) is the wire?

you can hook up the wire behind the gauge cluster..I guess TAM stands for tachometer..Trust me..if you hook up that wire to the TAM line, the light will work once you hit that desired rpm.thats how mine is hooked up and i got the pill for 6500rpm and the light goes on once i hit redline..works fine..
