I was wondering what everyone preferred: the "Show look"(1.7 drop, bodykit, 17-19'' rims) or the "Sport look"(1.5 drop, 17'' rims). Is getting bodykits,big rims, etc worth the reduced driveability to look good??

The reason i ask this is because today I was driving down Alameda St. in LA and there was this guy driving a civic mayb 30mph because his car was really low with a bodykit, etc and he was trying to avoid all the potholes. All these cars were honking at him for backing up traffic.

While if you only go for a sport look it would only make the car look more aggressive yet retains full drivebility

This Is just a curious question that I have. Which do you prefer??

 

It all depends where you live. If its all flat roads you can pretty much drive a slammed maxima body kit and all anywhere you want. If you drive in an area where there are tons of hills like here you need to watch out. Now to contradict myself I just bought some sprints and a body kit and have 18s so i'm hoping that it will still be fully driveable as long as I take bumps slow.

this question will bring hundreds of answers and opinions in the end it will be up to you...

 

you may have to drive somewhere bumpy, you never know. if you're not going to show your car, it's a lot more respectable to have more aggressive components and not 0wn yourself when you've got to back up and go sideways over a speed bump. better to be sporty than showy if you have any doubts.

oh. yes. i almost forgot the whole point of the thread! "sport look." i like an aggressive look that is driveable. the whole chrome ghetto wheel rubbing body kit outrageous thing is not my cup of tea.

 

I've got sporty 18"s and sporty bling 19"s I'm slammed.... I rub... I have JDM coilovers...

I'm slammed on GC/AGX, 19's, and front lip, soon to be fully kitted. I don't have any driveability issues. I drove from here in Oklahoma City to Maxus '01 in DC like this! I can drive around and not scrape and not hold up traffic, you just can't be an idiot...

Well if you think about it any maxima that is set-up for show is a sporty looking maxima. However I dont think u can call a maxima Full Show "undriveable- non sporty" untill you put bags on it. Just my opinion but 140 on bags would be real scary.

Maxipad. I live in the dc metro area and travel to nyc on a regular basis. I both areas the roads are chitty but you have to learn to dodge potholes.

 

120 on bags.. wasnt too bad.

 

my car is more driveable at 120mph than 5mph in a parking lot

IMO, i think 18 inch rims make the maxima look very sporty

 

you will bend a rim... eventually 18"s are usually pretty safe especially if you go with a 245/40-18 tire

but even if you dont bend s rim running lowered and with big wheels will eventually cause alllll the rattles to come out of hiding

 

I think there's a thin line between showlook and sportlook.
