Dyno results befre/after MEVI... disappointing?? :(

Well, now I want a BMW 540i 6-spd... this **** sucks... look at my numbers from Jan - May - July

Dec 2002: Stock Dyno (performed at DPE)
Jan: y-pipe + b-pipe (performed at DPS)
May: y-pipe + b-pipe + test pipe + cone filter (performed at TAG)
July: y-pipe + b-pipe + test pipe + cone filter + MEVI (performed at TAG)

I lost A LOT of midrange power with the MEVI it seems, and my peak HP/TQ has dropped significantly (especially since January... I was almost at 200lb.ft at the wheels with just y-pipe and b-pipe!!!)

Is it worth it? Track times will tell... but until I get a cool day to run, track times will suck and I will want a 540i even more... I really do not like the loss of almost 10HP and 20lb.ft of torque at the wheels in the midrange area. JWT ECU would at least extend the top end to 7000-7200RPM so that I can actually make my peak UP up there... MAYBE that will make up for the loss in midrange, but still... it kind of sucks to have such a huge drop! I will post this on the org to get the other MEVI guys' opinions.

So here are the HP and TQ comparisions, on separate graphs:

Incidentally, my stock dyno almost looks nicer (outside of top end)... haha

P.S. I will shrink the images if it really bothers people. Let me know. But I really hope that some of the guys with MEVI can help me out here.

How did you do today?

Looking at this I'm thinking those guys need to get their dyno fixed, or their corrections are totally f'd up.

I didn't end up dynoing today because they seemed to busy and I would have needed use of the hoist between dyno runs. If I didn't get to test and tune then it would have been a waste of a dyno session for me at $55. So I told them that I will bring it back either during the week or next Saturday at 9am. Here's what I want to do:

stock muffler vs 2000 muffler
stock cat vs hi-flow cat
swap ECU
test different Harlan RPM switch settings

Justin, are you able to come meet me at TAG during the week after work? What day works best for you... or can you not make it out to TAG this week?

These latest rounds of dynoing seem more in line with typical. I always thought your original baseline dyno was unrealistically high (usually takes an intake and y-pipe to get those numbers), so this supports my theory that that particular dyno might have been messed up or "rigged." I told you not to be surprised if you are disappointed in future dynos with mods, or even see a loss of performance, so this thread is almost like clockwork.

Yup, take it to the track and see what it'll do.
