Checked ecu for codes today!! Im ****ed
I have ben having hesitation problems so i ran my ecu for codes today. I got 1 long 2 short, and 3 long 4 short, that is knock sensor and mass air flow sensor, could this be possible to have all this **** broken and no CEL, could this be a mistake ?? and were is the cheapest place i could get these?
well i have be gttin bad gas milage so i think im gona change the knock sensor, plus i dont wanna spend that much on a MAF and find out its not broken. could somethin like a vacum leak or something small cause this code?
You Might Want to Check the MAF first before you do anything .. check the grounding and inside the MAF to make sure everything is there and connected... most likely you MAF has a problem which is also causing the KS Code to Show up, and yes check for vacum leaks..

Did you turn the car on when some of the wires were out? I turned on my car with the intake off and now I have a CEL on. The stupid plastic won't come out so I can't check it right now. Reset your CEL so it goes away and then if it comes back, you have something wrong.

Don't change the KS, thats prolly not your problem. A bad KS doesn't cause hesitation, it causes a lack of power. You have a hesitation which is most likely caused by your failing MAF sensor. A failing MAF will also trigger your KS because your engine isn't running correctly.
Do you guys clean the MAF? I cleaned the one on my 240SX and my neighbors F150 with good results. I use 90% alcohol and a artist brush. I haven't looked at the Maxima style one yet. I visit this board for my sister's 95 Max so I am not totally on the wrong board.

The maf causes stalls and some hesitation during idle. I went to the dealership and the technician suggested that, since the maf is meant to last for a very long time, I might want to go to a junkyard and find one it will work the same. I bought it for $70 and I have not had any problems with it. That was about 70000 miles ago.
Two different types of "knock".. One is from the ignition spark arriving too early and the explosion tries to reverse the piston travel. The other bad one would be excessive bearing wear in the rod and main bearings. You really don't want the second one. The Nissan 240 and trucks use the same motor and the timing chain systems suck in them. When the timing chain guides go bad they drop shavings into the oil pan and starve the oil strainer of oil. This causes low oil pressure and fast wear in the bearings. It also causes a knock above 3000RPM. Don't know if Maximas are prone to this as the timing chain tensioner chatters in the morning. Sorry guys I got a little off topic here.
