traded in maxima and got new car! :)

Well I just traded in my 96 Maxima, with no mods and 113k miles for a 95 Supercharged Maxima with stillen body kit, 18s, full suspension, full exhaust and 100k miles. I'm very happy, but now I have to get my license . I'll be getting it within a month of going back to school. I'm a senior in High School. So now I'll be cruising around in the new car once I pass the test.

How much did you have to pay after you traded in your old one?

I bought the car off someone but they were buying a new 350z, so I traded in my Maxima to the dealership towards his 350z and I gave him the rest of the cash to finish the deal.

I'm SC'd and it's an auto. But he had something done to the tranmission so that he shifts it like a stick and uses overdrive as third gear. I'm not sure what exactly he had done but it gets rid of the automatic lag and makes it more fun to drive. I can ask him what exactly he had done. There are a few scrapes on the front lip and a couple scratches here and there but everything else is fine. The car is in great shape. And one of the center caps on one of the rims is missing. But those can be replaced, correct?

Sure can, are they stock Nissan rims? Yeah can you find out what he did to get rid of the autotragic lag? I would really appreciate it.

I don't get it...you had a Maxima w/no license? Have you been driving without a license? If you're a new driver, be careful with that car...it's bound to be fast!

I still have my permit, my mom gave me her maxima. And she gave me permission to sell it to get this max. And I paid for the difference. And they are volk racing rims.

It sounds like he bought Ptatohed's car.

Enjoi, is the car white? Does it have a Stillen Type II spoiler? clear/red taillights?

No, I know what the VB mod is, and he did get that done. But he had additional work done on the tranny as well. And no, it's not a white max.

Re: traded in maxima and got new car! :)

Congrats on the car, but if you bought one already modded, how are you going to learn anything?

I know what he did to make the auto shift fast and hard....Its called a shift kit..I going to be a senior this year and last year when i was taking auto shop, all the teens that took that class got themselfs a shift kit for racing purposes...The shift kit is a kit that u buy for mostly any car and it just changes the check ***** in your tranny to bigger ones and changes the gaskets...Its good if ur into racing but if ur moms drives it she wont like it b/c the shifts are hard and the car jerks.

Good buy

haha what the HELL are you talking about? The valvebody mod and the drop resistor mod are the only things you can do to an auto max (well, aside from the cool *** torque lock box/manual shift selection box someone came up with a few weeks ago).

3rd gear as OD? OD is the top gear in every transmission. IN the 4th gen auto 4th would be OD, not 3rd. 5th gear on a MT is its OD. Unless he had a franken-trans swap and its a 3spd.

No...he's right somewhat. Theres the transgo shift kit, which is different from the Valvebody Mod.

Different yes, same function? Also yes. I think the shift kit is simplier than Don's vb mod(but who knows now)

And if the guy has od in 3rd, his car will slow as hell. That would be like shifting from 3rd gear to 5th gear on a manual tranny.

What he said was that he shifts 1-2 then when he wants to go into third he uses the od button and it puts it into third gear without any of the auto lag. it works just like a manual like some people start off in first then go into second then put it into drive. but isntead of doing that and waiting for drive to shift the car, you can manually shift the car into third with the od button. at least that's what i think he's saying i'll definitely get back you guys though on what exactly is going on. because i'm starting to get suspicious too. maybe i'm totally misinterpreting what he's saying.
