new interior paint pics for my ongoing project

I painted part of my interior to have ready for when my car is finished. I took the pieces out and cleaned them wiht PPG acryli-clean, sanded the texture off until it was smooth, cleaned again, sprayed it with adhesive promoter, primed it, sanded it, primed it again, sanded, cleaned again, sprayed 3 coats of the base coat and finally sprayed 3 coats of clear. I used the actual automotive paint I am using on the rest of the car. It isnt really that bright but the angle of the sun really made it bright looking.

I did the center piece (around the radio) a few weeks ago but am re doing it because it wasnt as slick as I wanted it. I really like the look of the pieces without the texture.

Here are some pics.

This is a 5 spd. surround. I will be using it and a boot for my auto along with a Razo shift ****.

Thanks again to Dan for some suggestions.

oh and I left the center part of the upper piece black because I didnt want too much blue going on around there. I like the look.

I didnt clean them up good yet because I just wanted to get some pics up.

I have both. I have a good (not great) HVLP gravity spray gun (a Sharpe Platinum HVLP) and a decent full size siphon feed gun (the highest end Campbell Hausfeld) I use for a primer gun.

For this small stuff I am using a Husky siphon feed detail gun ($30 from HD). Its small and does a good enough job for this kind of work.

Thanks!!!

gravity feed wastes less and takes less pressure to spray. Until recently I thought that only gravity feed guns could be hvlp but have seen some siphon feed guns as hvlp so I really dont know. I am no expert on that but do know that hvlp is much nicer since it takes less air pressure you waste less paint with overspray and it goes on smoother.

Well I used actual base coat/clear coat paint. I used 3 coats of clear. This is the actual paint I am painting the car with...not just the actual color but the actual paint. Thats why its so shiny. This is not a rattle can paint job (nothing against anyone that has used regular spray paint)

Wow, sanding off the texture has really done wonders for that finish . The pieces look more metallic than plastic to me with that paint, especially the 5 spd surround piece.

Nice work
