If anyone is planning on rebuilding their VG, order the NISMO heads. Of course your going to have to get a custom intake/exhaust manifold made but the gains are worth it hehe. Those heads + cams/valve springs should be good for 7500rpm of SOHC fun/fury.

Thanks for the link Ari! I'm doing a cheap turbo setup (fairly stock) just to get it on. Though, when I get enough $$$ for more boost, I'll be building up the engine and planned on doing some serious head mods. I had been wondering exactly what those VG Nismo heads were but there doesn't seem to be much info out there on the net. How would low-end be with these heads and the capability of revving to 7.5k??? I would hope it wouldn't be a drastic decrease in low-end performance. In combination with the right turbo and the rpm band increased by about a good 2k from these heads/cams/etc, I bet you would see some HUGE top-end gains. If you have any more input/info about these Ari, I'd really love to hear it.
So they are in fact SOHC 24v heads! Ari, what would you do about the cams? I mean, since its a SOHC 24v design, where in the world are you going to get some cams for that??! Are any of the Nismo cams made specifically for these heads?

 

24v?? what are you talking about?? VG is 12v, look in the pics only 2 valves per cylinder.

My mistake. I glanced at the pics and I had been up for like 48hrs so I was tired.

I guess my question is, would 7.5k be possible, like Nismo87SE mentioned, using something like a mild cam or would you have to get something drastic? I don't want to sacrifice too much low-end since my Maxima is a daily driver. Though, the increase in top-end would be more than worth it.

 

So would we actually have top end with some of these bad boys?

 

If you can makes the heads breath, it will rev. Just make sure the bottom end/valvetrain is also up to the 7k rpm task also.

 

the bottom end will handle 7500
the valve springs and intake manifold design limit the 7500 rpms
also the cams, no power up there why go that high?

 

The other option is to get your heads custom machined. I found a guy here in Sacramento that used to do the heads for Nissan's race team- for 2600 I could get the heads machined to those specs with some cams that would work with it. The advantage to this is that you won't have to custom fabricate your intake and exhaust, which might be a PITA. If anyone wants the number for this machinist, drop me a PM.
